To author: Thank you for the explanation that hard coding. But why Imperium and Free stars can not do that also(at least among themselves in fight) It depends only on the knowledge of the materials. They know, what they are using. Is it because they would had to have at first knowledge of Teran adapt technology? It is impossible without it.
To Alejandro: Using drones come later in the Odyssey novel. They had to be hit to detect frequency. In this book maybe heroics Teran cruiser in the battle will have to be hit again to detect frequency(missig facilitties to make drones, they have to build living space) We will see
I'm thoroughly enjoying the new series; however, the style seems just a bit different - I've always enjoyed the "new and "novel" innovations/plot twist and character developments you've added as the story line develops. I get a sense that there's not much of it in this series up to this point - its more of a rehash of Into the Black. This isn't criticism - just and a feeling I have.

Evan, about laser detection. We both are talking about the extended cloud of drones that the Odisseus (and lather all the heroics) used to detect the laser frequency, transmit with FTL and adapt the terran skins. Not a tecnology that a Free Stars descroyer can have
To author : 2 questions
1.What does it mean hard coding for general settings to fake frequency adaptation, that helps Teran destroyer? Do you mean, that they coded only few - most used- frequencies and can not adapt their armor? So they have to have a luck, that enemy ship will use that frequency or am I wrong?
2. What about lasers. Is it the same? Because pirates talked about greater firing power from Teran destroyer.
Thanks for the answer
Author's Response: The laser adaptation is essentially infinitely variable, it adjusts to perfectly target the current designated enemy ship, thus gaining more effect from the same power. By hard coding a series of presets into the destroyer, based on analysis of known Free Stars materials, they get a better transfer of energy than standard beams, making their weapons more effective against the targets those presets are correct for... but they don't get the full versatility, or efficiency, of the Terran adaptive beams.
Anonymous, chapter 20 about laser detection: In Odisseus era the laser detection was made with Earth tecnology that they are hiding as a strategical advantage, and they defitely wouldn't have it inside a Free Stars destroyer.
Author's Response: Not sure what you mean by "Detection"? If you mean the laser frequency adaptation, they don't have it... but they can fake it by hard coding presets for general settings.
Galactic Arm he had one fill On
Her job dropping slightly jaw
a wild good chase Goose
Evan, in the text you said that "lasers were all but impossible to detect" but in Weston's era first Steph noticed and Weston deployed drones for just such a purpose
as a glass of sub-atomic elements
as a class of sub-atomic elements?
Love it 👄 hehehe
I would like at least one chapter set on Ranquil, find out how the Terran humans are settling in, how Admiral Tanner and Central are coping with the loss of Eric Weston and how they are reacting to the loss of Earth and whether they have come up with any new ship types or their defence network is coming along.
let them do their job while you focused on yours.
Still, get didn’t take his time(get) might be replaced by (Eric)
“Does he saw why he suggestions caution?”
)saw(probably should be (say)
really like this book
Loving the story so far!
Alejandro: The Drasins destroyed Mars before Helen was captured? So she could not be there
Author's Response: As I recall, the POW facility was built near the orbit of Mars, but I'd have to check that book again to be sure.
Typo I believe: "...won't change they way they thing," Jones said.
Typo I think at: "God to see you," Steph said
Looking good and I am excited to read more.
"within and without the Free Stars, and the Gaians remained somewhat "
Without - outside/ way out of
StarStrike , Helena was captive in a prision on Mars, she probably was killed by the invading fleet
Love the new Series
"Any sign the spotted us" probably should be (They)
What ever happened to "Fleet Commander Helena Burch"?
Last we saw of her was Book 2 of the Archangel One series as a captive on the Odysseus.
Druidan- You're right, but there wasn't any chance for the Earth, Kardie wasn't completed, maybe Saul could have done something...but he is arogant(I suppose he is still alive with Gaia)
Looking good so far.
Might want a prologue, telling what happened to the Imperial Fleet around Earth and if any survived.
Would like to see Lord Jesan stranded on Earth, escaping the wrath of humanity.
The last three chapters are a bit boring. In understand the concept of characther development, but I would have preferred the same stuff to be summarized in one chapter. Bottom line: this books first 11 chapters are quite slow, albeit the first 4 looked promising. I am a big fan of EC, though and I hope this new book will be ok.
Love it
